Player Name: Dun
Preferred method of contacting: PM
Other characters: Claire Harley, Venea Zephyrius and Riley Black

Character Name:Dunquareiel
Character Nickname: Dun
How she got it: Dun is a short of her actual name used by the few friends she has. Humans and races who find her accent and name particularly difficult to handle prefer to shorten her name. She's perfectly comfortable with friends simply calling her Dun, though hearing acquaintances call her by that nickname makes her a bit uneasy.
Age: About 4,000 (appears to be in her late twenties or early 30s)
Race: Elf (The first line of Siniathcuil- some traits resembling demonic heritage)
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Follower of: None, though she was a friend of Amaranth, a former goddess of time
Class/Occupation: None (She takes jobs as they come)

Dunquareiel, like most of her kind, is rather tall and lean. She stands taller than most humans, but is average for her people at about 5' 8". Her waist is small, and her legs long. Her legs are more muscular than any other part of her body due to extensive traveling on foot (therefore, they are not extremely bulky). She is also fairly flexible as can be seen when she fights. Her hair is a golden hue and hangs nearly to her waist. It is often wavy and unruly due to the fact that she usually wears it down and doesn't spend a lot of time keeping it in order. It's length is uneven because she rarely cuts it and does so with a blade. Her fair skin makes her look very untouchable and otherworldly among others. Her blue eyes are a very cold sight among her otherwise gentle look. They are extremely light, but generally vibrant. Since she is very old, her look is more mature than that of a young woman. Her facial structure is strong (with prominent cheek bones and a pointed nose)but it's curves are feminine.

***Please don't assume that Dunquareiel is a promiscuous woman. She's not interested in any kind of romantic relationship, and you won't find me trying to get your character attracted to her. I'm fine if they are, but she'll never be a character's wife or prostitute. wink.gif

Everything is very plain and simple as Dunquareiel is a wanderer. She has little need for fancy garments and rarely enough money to pay for them. Her most commonly worn outfit is a maroon, velvet dress that ends at her knees and has a long slit in the front coming up to mid-thigh. An ivory shirt is usually worn under it with sleeves that begin off the shoulder and end at her wrists. They are half-covered by fingerless, brown, leather gloves. Like her sleeves, she has ivory leggings half covered by brown, leather boots.

On occasion she will wear other articles of clothing that are more appropriate for the climate or occasion. She often wears a gray cloak and sometimes a light blue tunic.

Weaponry: When carrying weaponry, Dun tries to travel light. Her most commonly used weapon is a yew short-bow with silver filigree. She also carries two elvish knives with ivory handles, and a curved sword (similar to a karabela, though not as curved; very much like her pendant minus the rose). Of course, she doesn't always have them on hand. . .but she usually has more than one weapon.

Armor: She wears none (it's not like she is getting into a battle every five seconds). If Dunquareiel finds a need for armor, she'll have to go buy some with the money she doesn't have.

Personality: Dun is definitely a troubled soul. Events in her past have hardened her, and caused her to avoid relationships. She remains loyal to her husband, and due to what happened with Riley, she tries not to get too close to men. Becoming friends with Dunquareiel is not an easy task regardless of one's intentions and how lonely Dun is. It'll take a lot to earn her trust, but it is a powerful thing to obtain (worth the trouble, I'd say). Of course, it's almost impossible to regain once it's been lost.

Her lack of allegiance to a specific region has given her a good deal of freedom to think and act. Most people in Carias considered her a traitor for working with one group then fighting against them when their interests weren't the same. Dunquareiel has strong morals and will fight for whatever she deems right. She doesn't follow whoever has the most persuasive argument or the greatest prize. This isn't always beneficial for her, but she's lost a lot of motivation for self-preservation. Doing what is best for the "greater good" is Dunquareiel's priority. If she happens to die in the process. . . well she isn't entirely sure that she cares anymore. She would only feel guilty for denying her family the chance to see her again, and denying those that cannot defend themselves a capable ally.

Being about 4,000 years in age, she is wise to say the least. So many years have taught her many things. Even with the knowledge of many lands, few trust her for council. Most in Meliora do not know her well, and would not even know that she is well educated. Some believe she knows too much for her own good. With the reputation Dunquareiel has had, she prefers to be alone and isn't the friendliest to acquaintances. Of course, if you catch her in a good mood, you should take advantage of the information she has to offer.

The only thing that stops Dunquareiel is herself. She tends over-analyze even the most insignificant details of a situation (this is the result of many years alone thinking). Once she has finally made up her mind, she's not easily convinced to change her opinion.

*With all of that said, Dunquareiel seems to be somewhat two-faced. On one side she can be kind, empathetic and loyal. . .a real leader and keeper of freedom. On the other side she is merciless and deadly. If given a great reason, Dunquareiel will fight and never cease (she is constantly full of passion whether it is directed toward compassionate goals or violence). It's best to keep her in a gentle state. Due to Meliora's current situation, Dunquareiel is generally in a fair mood, so don't be afraid of her. wink.gif

Background/History:Little is known of Dunquareiel's history. She remembers a great deal of it since the things that occurred earlier in her life have shaped her as a person. She was born in a peaceful elvish city near rivers and waterfalls. Her mother died in childbirth, and her father was killed in battle soon after (their land had been at war for years). After Dunquareiel became an adult, she was sent away to live in the largest community of her kind where the eldest dwelled. When living in this wood of great trees and godly beings, she had only one good friend and spent most of her days alone. Being female, even though the elves greatly respected women, she did not participate in political discussions or anything to do with the war (In Siniathcuil, especially in elvish culture, that just wasn't something women did). A man whom she had met in this wood returned one day speaking of war in the south. She found his stories fascinating and spent many days with him learning as much as she could. She enjoyed his company, but he had other things on his mind and could not stay long. He soon left for her homeland to attend a meeting of leaders from their alliance, where he was chosen to lead a small group into the south to war. Eventually Dunquareiel was so curious that she left to meet him and his companions.

Dunquareiel accompanied the group throughout the war, and married this man after it ended. They had three children and lived in the largest forest in their world (A place named Runenceven). Soon after the ending of the war many of the elves began leaving the world for the home of their ancestors across the sea (The war was over, but many problems remained). The lands had been so devastated by the war that they found it best to return to where they came from and leave Siniathcuil in the hands of their allies who had won control. Her entire family left (Except for her son who had died), along with her friend Berengiel. It was this loss that devastated her. The love she had finally learned to give and take was ripped away from her forever (Dunquareiel's mother had given her the traits of ancient elves who had been banned from the land which her people were returning to. As a direct descendant of these exiled people, she could not go with her family.)

Since then, Dunquareiel had spent a the majority of her time writing and traveling. She had spent her entire life in a land at war, and the fighting and plotting that came with it had become her specialties. The sadness and guilt from the loss of her family turned to hate and anger that built up until it took over. She discovered a way, through texts left by her people, to leave Siniathcuil for another world. What seemed to be a serene escape turned out to be one of her greatest nightmares. (Carias. You can learn more about that land in Riley's sheet)

How did she get to Meliora? Well, that was through a different way. . .a vortex. She left Riley and the rebellion after the end of Carias' struggle, to find this vortex and leave Carias for good. She didn't know where it would take her, but Meliora was where she ended up.

**Important events in Carias before Meliora: Dunquareiel was sent to a king's dungeon for fighting against his army and murdering one of his commanders (She had been paid as his mercenary for three years). She was kept there for 3 weeks where she was beaten and nearly starved before being rescued. Had she not been rescued, she would have been hanged for all to see at the king's upcoming birthday celebration.

Dunquareiel's fear of demons spawned from an encounter in Carias. She was attacked by a demon with a quota of souls to fill. Had she not been rescued, once again, she would have died from the wounds she sustained and lost her soul (dramatic!). The man who rescued her was the same man who rescued her from the dungeon. His name was Riley Black, and he became one of Dunquareiel's very few friends.
(Dun HATES being rescued. She doesn't like the idea that she is useless and cannot take care of herself. Too much pride. . .)

Other:
Health:Well and athletic. Aside from an old wound by a poison dart which causes her to fall very ill without warning. However, this only occurs once in a span of years. It happens less frequently as time goes on, though a significant amount of stress seems to trigger it.
Habits etc: Playing with a sword pendant on a silver chain around her neck. ((Silver blade, golden hilt. Ruby and emerald rose around the blade, and ruby and sapphires in the hilt. The one thing she owns worth anything.))
Attitude: Quick to upset, but quite solemn.
Family details:
Mother: Laure, Lady of Forwood (Siniathcuil), Deceased
Father: Melhonion, Lord of The Golden Wood (Siniathcuil), Deceased
Husband: Aryon, Representative of Runenceven (Siniathcuil), Missing
Son: Thrandulion (Thran), Guardsman of Runenceven (Siniathcuil), Deceased
First-born daughter: Sereniel, Lady of Runenceven (Siniathcuil), Missing
Younger daughter: Eldavaneriel, Missing
