Riley is average in height and build. He is about 5'10" with a fairly muscular frame. Since he spends many hours outdoors, he has a lightly tanned complexion interrupted with a few scars. His arms are strong due to frequent use during swordfighting. The hair on his head is playfully curled and colored a dark brown hue. His most noticable features are his emerald eyes and smile, though he is just learning to smile again.

On a regular day Riley will wear a simple, neutral-colored tunic shirt and brown breaches. His dark boots reach mid-calf height and are made of leather. These garments are often slightly dirtied and worn from frequent use.


Weaponry: Riley often carries a range of weapons. It depends on where he is, and what he thinks he might need. Most often he carries his sword (A worn sword of fine iron, with a smooth matching hilt wrapped in aged leather for a good grip), and a knife or two.

Armoury: Riley doesn't wear armor much, and when he does it doesn't consist of a wide range of pieces. Perhaps a chest plate, greaves, pauldrons, and MAYBE a helmet. He does not travel with any armor.

Personality: Riley is well recognized as a playfully sarcastic gentleman. He is very trusting to those he knows well, and always incredibly loyal. However, he is often skeptical about aquaintances. He will always attempt to be friendly, but he cannot ignore the fact that many people seek to deceive others.

Being a well-travelled man, Riley knows quite a bit about the world (even though he is foreign XD) He knows his way around in the wild and is skilled with his sword. However, he isn't the brightest in politics. Though he is unknowing in this area, he doesn't dare ask many questions. He has too much pride to let on his confusion. As one can tell from his history, Riley has an extreme hunger for adventure.

Riley's sarcasm and gentleness towards women earned him many female friends in the past, but he accepted few as lovers. His standards seem to be set very high now in comparison to his younger years. Since leaving Carias, he has treated himself as though he had been married. . . despite the fact that the woman he loves wanted nothing to do with him. Due to the fragile state of his broken heart, Riley tries to remain unattached to women.

If you're looking to become friends, there are some things you should know. Riley hates when people act beg for attention. He is very good at sensing when someone is lying or putting on a show. He prefers open and honest people who can speak their minds. Just be straight forward with him. Those who are sophisticated and loyal catch his attention. Being a kind man, Riley is always helpful to those who really need him; even if they don't ask for help.

Background/History: Riley was not born or raised in Meliora. You may know of the land Carias, the place Dunquareiel lived before coming to Meliora. If so, you must also know that to get to Meliora, she used a vortex. Well, Riley used the same means to arrive here.

Riley was born into a middle class family in a small town on the border of Carias' capital. His mother was a beautiful woman with fair skin and dark hair. She died giving birth to his younger sister (Riley was six years old when she was born) Diana, whom he hasn't seen since enrolling in a secret rebel society at the age of seventeen. His father was a knight of the king and was rarely seen by him. After his mother's death, Riley was sent into the city to stay with his grandmother until he was old enough to fend for himself.

The young Riley was very friendly and flirtatious with aspirations to be a warrior of sorts (not necessarily a knight like his father). As a child and young teen he enjoyed roaming the streets of Carias' capital, meeting people and hearing stories of the king's vast empire. As he got older, he had a lot of attention from ladies. Being an attractive man in appearance and personality, this wasn't surprising. . . but Riley didn't ask for the attention. It was flattering at first, but he eventually got sick of it. He took few relationships farther than aquaintances or simple friendships.

When Riley grew older, the King of Carias became suffocating to the country and seemed to ignore the suffering of his people. Many towns and villages endured sickness and famine from neglect, and young men were being taken to serve in the King's army. The focus of the King had turned to conquering neighboring lands, rather than preserving what he already had. Many citizens were outraged by the foul circumstances, but few had the courage to resist.

As a member of the secret society (joining at age 17), "Rebelion 5" (only one small division of a growing army), Riley eventually earned the title of captain. He organized missions to assist in the downfall of the king from the capital city. This lead to his successful attempt to rescue Dunquareiel from the dungeons and hanging. She was seen as a powerful ally to the rebellion, and became associated with them after being rescued by Riley and his allies.

Riley left Rebellion 5 years later at age 24 to travel. He sought to recruit others to his cause. Carias was slowly becoming darker and the lesser people were falling into extreme poverty. The faster they could summon an army, the better chance they had of saving Carias from the King's horrible rule.

During his travels he met Dunquareiel (she was forced to avoid larger cities after being rescued) who was, once again, in deep trouble. She was being attacked by some dark creature he was unable to identify, but he was able to impale it with his sword and somehow make it disappear. It was highly unnatural, and after Dunquareiel recovered from her nearly fatal wounds. . . she told him it was a demon. Not being a believer in this things, Riley was not convinced. Whatever it was, it was powerful. . . and he was glad to get rid of it.

The pair traveled a long while and developed a strong friendship. Together they were able to gather the means to defeat Carias' corrupt king and begin to restore the lands. Unfortunately, Dunquareiel went missing soon after a new ruler was chosen. He had fallen in love with her, but she certainly did not return his feelings (openly, anyway). Riley was determined to hunt her down. . . which lead him to the vortex. Before he call to her and stop her from leaving, she was through the vortex. In hopes of saving their friendship, he foolishly followed. They have not seen each other since arriving in Meliora.
